Substation Construction Guidelines

Substation construction guidelines tries to explain some of the steps involved in constructing a substation and expansion of an existing substation. These guidelines are very critical when constructing a new structure and also for an existing substation. Substation construction guidelines are arranged in series of work practices and each practice can often be accessed individually. Besides, the practices can be reviewed prior to performing any task and this goes a long way in preventing costly mistakes which make arise.
Substation construction guidelines include the following. Safety in substations, reading substation one-line drawings, installation of the ground grid, how to pour and test concrete, safe rigging practices, erecting buses, steel structures, methodology of testing major substation tools such as transformers, circuit breakers, disconnects, surge arresters, instrument transformers, reactors, regulators, batteries, capacitors, procedures to be followed when grounding fences equipment, installation and testing of control gadgets and energizing and commissioning a substation.
